Hitman. Newest one. It truly does seem like Blood Money except they strengthen the game design from Blood Money by a lot. I do enjoy setting up long and planning long winded traps, I like that the game lets you go nuts when you get frustrated. Though you do die far more easily when you do that.

can someone recommend a game? Im bored as fck here.
Hollow Knight
https://www.gog.com/game/hollow_knight ... $10 bucks USA.

Not as hard as thought it would be. Well not as hard as

Valdis Story: Abyssal City
http://www.valdisstory.com/ currently $15 bucks USA. DRM free if brought on their site.

Both requires timing to kill things. Except in hollow knight, you can play without a controller because the timing is forgiving. In Valdis on the other hand, your first boss fight will make you drop the keyboard for a controller. Valdis also has different move sets depending on the character you play & the weapon you equip. You can even unequip your weapons and play hand to hand. This game can get ridiculous difficult due to timing.

Both is quite rewarding when you actually beat things. Both have optional bosses and different paths or rewards unlock if you do things a certain way. Both have an interesting story. Both may take you a long time to complete due to it's difficulty. This ain't button mashing games.

I guess you don't need to have a controller if you have a keyboard and mouse that is responsive enough.

Recently tried out an Early Access game called Dark and Light, which is basically Ark: Survival Evolved + Magic/Fantasy.

Promising. Particularly liked the character creation with the different sliders for arm and leg size, similar to the options in Dark Souls games and the ability to save the character one is in the middle of creating, so they don't have to start from scratch if there is an error or something.

Souls game have the feminine/masculine features slider or something to that effect. And in Dark and Light, the character models, skin, hair, eyes, face, body...looks great with the Unreal 4 engine.

Developers should introduce an androgyny slider, as well.

Took a break from Dark Souls III to play with a low-budget game called Sundered. http://store.steampowered.com/app/535480/Sundered/

Hand-drawn graphics are nice.

Animation is fluid.

Abilities are neat.

Action is almost nonstop.

And a female protagonist.

I'd very much like it if companies (big and small) would churn out 2D or 2.5D side-scrolling, metroidvania-style games, where the graphics can be nice-enough and because the game doesn't need a strong rig and needn't be 20-30-400Gb in size, they could still squeeze in a TON of content. Recent games of the kind that sundered also reminded me of were Ghost 1.0, Seraph, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Salt and Sanctuary, Blade Kitten

well if you are looking for more...
Have you tried
Iji
free 2D metroidvania style with a female protagonist. Different endings based on what you choose to do. The choices isn't obvious either. Which makes it a bit interesting.

http://www.remar.se/daniel/iji.php

Iji is an action-packed strategic platform shooter with a detailed story, large levels with multiple paths, powerful bosses and lots of secrets. There are alternate gameplay events, dialogues and scenes depending on what you do, a wealth of extras and bonus features, and seven stats to upgrade through a leveling system. Iji herself has superhuman strength and abilities, and can crack Nanotechnology, use her enemies' most devastating weapons against them, and be a pacifist or a killer - the story adapts to how you play.
Mercenary Kings

Weapon crafting + metal slug style gameplay + coop.
Unfortunately it's really grindy and the mission time limits + the ability of some bosses to warp from one part of the level to another can get frustrating. I was watching while they were making this game. Paid some money too. Time limits were added because people would instead of progressing would spend eternity in one level grinding for crafting materials.

From the company Alientrap: Capized and Cryptark.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/344740/CRYPTARK/
http://store.steampowered.com/app/95300/Capsized/

Cryptark is a rogue like R-Type shooter. Both is 2D graphics. Cryptark ends when you either beat the game or have enough debts that the game ends early on ya.

Since you mentioned Blade Kitten, you might like A.R.E.S.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/315340/ARES_Extinction_Agenda_EX/

It has similiar play. Ares is like an easier version of Megaman.
Now if you would like to play an harder version of Megaman that is far superior that that POS that the creator of Megaman created.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/388800/Azure_Striker_Gunvolt/

Aquaria is a 2D side scroller of a female protagonist that follows a mermaid. Very metrodvania and the map is very large and convoluted.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/24420/Aquaria/

Guns Gore Cannoli is a 2D side scroller platform that is basically about a mob hitman fromt he 1930's out to take out one guy that unleashed a zombie apocalpyse. Short though.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/322210/Guns_Gore__Cannoli/

Outland.
Every wanted to see what a fast paced 2D side scroller platformer combined with a bullet hell would look like?
http://store.steampowered.com/app/305050/Outland/

Nefarious is a 2D platformer which has you playing as the villain running away from the heroes after kidnapping princesses and wiping the floor with them. It's weird.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/448290/Nefarious/

Mark of the Ninja is a stealth based 2D platformer that is fairly well done in that you can actually skip past most the enemies without harming them if you choose to.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/214560/Mark_of_the_Ninja/

Gina Sisters: Twisted Dreams is a hard puzzle platformer with boss fights.... It reminds me of Ninetndo's Mario games which makes sense since this is a remake of one of the old Mario clone games from the 80's.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/223220/Giana_Sisters_Twisted_Dreams/

Fez is beautifully well made and extremely large and convoluted 2D platformer.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/224760/FEZ/

The Death Spank series is a 2.5D platformer that is a action platformer that revels in comedy. It's RPG like in much the same way WoW is considered an RPG. There is 3 games in this series. The problem is that each sequel is just as repetitive and similar to the first game. The games feels like somebody decided they wanted to mix Torchlight with Monty Python.

Axion Verge.
Metroidvania 2D platformer that uses "glitches" as gameplay. It can get frustrating. But very atmospheric.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/332200/Axiom_Verge/

Valid Story I wrote about above this post. It's an action 2D platformer.

I have mostly been trying out new games and the ones i have had on the backburner.

Community Inc
A village building and crafting game... (Almost had my entire village burned down by meteorite shower and the second time everyone almost died out becouse of a flu. The game itself is still in it's baby shoes so to speak but it's playable even with it's kids diseases. )

Redeemer
Rather bloody top-down brawler with oddly good story telling. ( I think it's good in small doses but can get addictive when you get in to the zone and really start performing those executions from drop of the hat or you get a shotgun in your hand everybody just lines up right ^^ )

Blackguard
Rather basic RPG with a good story. ( Only reason i really play it becouse of the story, the game itself can be pretty much won by picking up a bow and enough arrows. )

Games im planning on getting tommorrow.
Avorion and Elite Dangerous...

Well...I...need better graphics, animation and physics than that, though.

Tried ARES, a while ago. Couldn't really get used to the controls. They felt terrible. And hen I looked at the skill tree, it wasn't very expansive. There didn't appear to be much content, at the time.

I do love the Mega Man X series, though. It's where my nick comes from, actually.

Oh, I was kinda disappointed with the graphics of this. Before I even saw the game, I heard its OST and it was awesome. But, when I saw how the game looked, it was like WTF. The kind of soundtrack the game has would go better with DMC-level graphics. It looked worse than Super Mario, ffs.

I saw that Azure Striker Gunvolt, before, too. Looked like too much of a Megaman-clone. No wonder, given the maker of the game.

It has this odd gameplay element to it which makes it different. If you talk to to this girl (or boy?, i dunno) in your room before heading out on missions it gives you this small chance of being resurrected after death with unlimited weapon energy. Which can come in handy when dealing with multiple bosses at the same time. It has RPG qualities to it and how you deal damage is different than from megaman.

You got this electric power that will shock everyone provided you shot targeting bullets at your enemies first. Oh and there is special moves too. You can get different weapons over the course of the game and various special attacks that deal even more damage. I found that it did enough for me to be separate from Megaman. Hell it did a lot more than Mighty No. 9 did to separate itself from Megaman.

It's too bad you say that about Iji. I honestly felt it's comparable to Ghost even decades later after it was completed. Ghost is better graphics wise, but I think Iji is better gameplay wise.

So...anyone played that Project Genom? Looks effing promising. Going off from how Firefall progressed, though, would it be a better idea to purchase it and play while it is still in alpha and then beta or risk waiting for an official release, by which point the game could change for the worse?
Not really. They had to rebuild the game after they swapped engines because the 1st one wasn't reaching all the goals they wanted. Then they to rebuild again because they build their game off someone's else's product and when that dude wanted more money and didn't want to give... Long story short it got settled and they are now telling everyone that this is game that will probably be in alpha for an even longer time than they assumed.

Joining now, means you can help them find problems in their current alpha. And the devs are responsive and grateful for that.

But you got to know that the trailers are simply what the devs want their game to look and feel like. It is their idealized version of Project Genom. The current game does not look like that.
They may not get there anytime soon, but they are certainly working hard to do so.

[edit]
if you want to, you keep tabs on their current development progress by checking their subreddit or their forums.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ProjectGenom/
https://pgenom.com/news/

now the PTS servers... is accessible to people that paid a certain amount. But don't expect a lot of people because most of their customers realize the game is still in early alpha.
