Some of the Top things that pushed me out of FF

Pretty much. Power creep doesn't have to be permanent. Diminishing returns. If leveling up your power costs you more ig money, there will be a point where you'll just go f*ck it. It's like tinkering. Most stopped at a certain point. Only the elite went full out. Now imagine if tinkering had...

Some of the Top things that pushed me out of FF

Look, so far it's the best i can come up with. A progression system similar to a more traditional progression system with a low powercurve based on HP and DMG. Personally i felt that the old 2.x powercurve of the old FF was already too much but where you improve your stats depends on your...

Yes there will Always be some type of powercreep. Agreed. Faster cooldowns, more speed, longer duration of defensive abilities is also a form of powercreep. Than why level at all? I said bad-ass, not god mode. Power comes in many forms, this is why i support diagonal progression.

Again, what i'm suggestion is not decay, it's not even not a traditional progression system. It's consumables integrated into it this providing temporary extra power which need to be crafted and can only be accessed at certain levels. It's permanent power (little, since this was not going to be...

Depending on the powercurve. It's fun to feel like a badass. Feeling like a god tends to get boring really fast. Ask the Olympians. Not much. But show me a way it can be done. It's easy to ask questions, provide a solution then. It makes progression in a vertical progression system irrelevant.

Some of the Top things that pushed me out of FF

To me power creep is, always wanting to get more powerful in the traditional sense where numbers keep going up in pure DMG and HP. It's a never ending cycle. I get more HP and DMG, baddies get more HP and DMG. I can always go back to lower areas and face stomp lower baddies but it's just god...

Thank you. I still disagree on your point that no form of item degradation or consumables work as a damper on power creep. Especially if they provide you with a temporary powerboost that increases in power and cost, as you increase in levels. This isn't supposed to be a game where you keep...

Some of the Top things that pushed me out of FF

You're right, it's probably me. People love potions, people love enchantments. The only suggestion i made is combining them into a progression system. No gear breakage, no gear repair. Again, morning coffee, little cranky.

Some of the Top things that pushed me out of FF

A permanent progression system that allows for regressive temporary extra power is the best i could come up with for now. It's not perfect (meaning you only get to keep part of your power continuously but it's the best i can come up with that, as long as everyone is willing to compromise, would...

Some of the Top things that pushed me out of FF

Hence my suggestion for a consumable based progression system. It's a compromise, not a perfect solution.

Some of the Top things that pushed me out of FF

All that i'm arguing for is a progression system that is fueled by consumables. There will still be a normal progression system but as you progress through that system you get to use more powerful, yet more expensive consumables. Using the amount of power at any stage is voluntary. It's not...

Some of the Top things that pushed me out of FF

I'm not a game designer, nor do i claim to understand the grander plan. Just playing armchair dev here. It's just a concern of mine. I do however promote that gear breakage or in my opinion a consumable based treadmill IS a damper on power creep. Powe rcreep is a treadmill, consumables is a...

Some of the Top things that pushed me out of FF

You haven't figured out the tricky part of my scheme yet. Since the refinement and merchants are governed by NPCs they can artificially alter the stock market. Kern and co can manipulate prices depending on fluctuations. Look at it this way: certain content isn't being played enough as it...

Some of the Top things that pushed me out of FF

True, but this is why i also support a true ecosystem. Certain specialized players would gravitate towards certain areas, doing specific tasks, even level up in them. I for one hate thumping, but loved tornado chasing. If both gave different types of rewards of equal value a natural trade would...

Some of the Top things that pushed me out of FF

Yeah i guess. Honestly i don't know, i'm not a game designer. A gem system was the best i could come up with now. You need some type of tredmill, doesn't have to be big or even important but "grind" will always be a part of long term games. Look at Skyrim. There's grind in Skyrim, it just...

Some of the Top things that pushed me out of FF

I'm all open to ideas, but imo, the idea of rested XP or any similar way to minimize binge behavior in an MMO is good, both for the general consumer as product. What that is, i don't know. But imo, the refining/printer idea was pretty close. Players will always complain, there's no way around this.

Some of the Top things that pushed me out of FF

Sure, but you're missing the point. WoW at some point introduced something like rested XP. This was to prevent people burning out on content. This also shows the genius of the people designing the refining/printer design. It was rested XP 2.0. Very few picked up on this. Very sneaky.

Maybe, but you once said that that the biggest issues with FF was trying to appeal to everyone. I agree with that statement, just in a different way. Make it more like WoW, make it more like Eve. A healthy economy is doable without adhering to the voice of the conditioned masses. I never...

Some of the Top things that pushed me out of FF

Sure, and i agree. Finding a middle ground seems the more reasonable solution. But to me it's like the finger and the arm. Look at what happened to FF at the end. "OMG, Assaults can fly, it's not fair, i want it too" "Dreads can facetank, it's not fair, i want to facetank too". It's a bit crude...
