This thread is about coming up with ideas for things like stealth combat and missions that focus on stealth elements.
For example the pros and cons of thermoptic camouflage and conventional camouflage. Thermoptic camouflage turns you invisible while also masking your heat signature making it so you are even hard to see in infrared sight. The draw back being that because it is active camouflage you have use energy to keep it going. While conventional camouflage is passive you run into the limits of it as soon as go outside of the area the camouflage was made for. Snow bunnies are hard to see when they are on snow, but easy to see when on a patch of grass and dirt.
In games making things like optical camouflage work is easy enough with a.i. But making it so at a.i. can't sense you when you using conventional camouflage is a lot harder. But what if we could have buffs like make less sound, reflecting less light, mimicking animal calls, and the like. Than the matter of how stealthy your mech is comes down to what buffs / perks you have on it.
As for missions what if their was an assassination mission where we have to find a target but command doesn't where they are. They know the target is in one of three enemy bases and have find out which one he/she is in and kill them before they can escape. If you attack the wrong base and enemies send an alarm the target will get away. Even if attack the right base there is a chance that the target will get away if don't find them in time. So using stealth to look around for the target is your best option.
Mind you, it still counts as stealth if you kill everything before they know what is happening or get the chance to sound the alarm.
