things you've made will always be as good as your current best. that means:
even if you don't take making something seriously, it'll still be as good as if you did. you'll just learn less.
if you do learn, the quality of your past work is improved. the consequences of your mistakes to the quality disappear once you learn not to make them.
also includes non-craftwork. for example:
all your friends are as good friends as you are at making friends.
injuries you inflict will be as harmful as if they were inflicted by the current you with the intent you had at that time. so cutting someone's wrist when trying to cut off their hand, then mastering that weapon, will result in their scar growing gradually deeper until their hand becomes impaired and eventually falls off.
