Yep, I played countless hours of SR3 completely naked. I'd do it again in Ember as well if I could get it as an option. The run and slide on a person like they were a surf board while naked was fun as well.

I would rather see no "jiggle physics" either. I dont mind atractive models, but tera/blade and soul type of models and physics are just way too much. Firefall models (not including texture) and physics of characters were just fine in my opinion.

Hopefully a bit more focus goes into character customization in general, that makes or breaks games for me, anyways.
I like the ladies, and I like playing them.. because pretty.. but also because they are slight of build and get less in the way of the action.

I seriously doubt any sort of gratuitous physics would get introduced in the early stages, because that sounds like development time better spent on stuff that matters. Stuff like gameplay.

I do fear, though, that the character customization you speak of also won't be implemented any time soon. Being vocal about, say, face customization, early on would be valuable. Maybe they can't (or shouldn't?) do these things right away, but I'd bet having them in mind early on will prevent pidgeonholeing the engine and making it hard later on.

A TOR style body type slider would be welcome, and I hope one of the options will be Zarya sized.

How about we reach equality not by dressing up female characters but by undressing male characters?
No homo
Well everything that I've said regarding females goes for males as well, and it really only makes sense if the setting for the game is going to be in the same place, in Brazil, where it's hot, and most people walk around with little clothing on already, even if they're not piloting a one ton battleframe.

I honestly hope the devs set the game somewhere else though, and don't try to copy TOO many things from the old Firefall.

How about we give the player a choice? I'm not a fan of seeing excessive amounts of flesh *cough*Engineer*cough* on anyone.

Also, let's try to keep it PG. I have grandkids who will sometimes be running around, I'd rather not have to curtail my playtimes because they're here. And maybe I'd be able to buy them a copy if everyone's not dressed like a pole dancer.

Seriously, do you have to have a flesh parade to buy a game? Go to any of the billions of porn sites till you get over it. Heck, there are even a couple of games (maybe more by now) that are based on sex. Or you could try meeting someone you'd actually like to spend time with IRL and maybe see some skin IRL.

Pardon my rant.

This would be the ideal outcome.

Also, let's try to keep it PG. I have grandkids who will sometimes be running around, I'd rather not have to curtail my playtimes because they're here. And maybe I'd be able to buy them a copy if everyone's not dressed like a pole dancer.
In this too, it would be best if the player has a choice. I find the panic about video games showing some skin to be more than just a little bit ridiculous. All the same, I wouldn't want the people complaining about it to be "locked out," so to speak.

Seriously, do you have to have a flesh parade to buy a game?
No, but it also does not prevent me from getting one, nor should you try to prevent such content from being made if that is the developer's vision for the game. I doubt that is the case with Ember, but I'm speaking in more general terms now.

Go to any of the billions of porn sites till you get over it.
Equating a bit of skin to pornography is wildly out of proportion.

Or you could try meeting someone you'd actually like to spend time with IRL and maybe see some skin IRL.
Classic, call people sexless virgins. That'll show 'em!

I have values I want to pass on to my family. Gaming with my family is one way I spend time with them. Gratuitous excess skin in a video game is mostly a deal breaker for me.

It is indeed the devs call. Just as it is my call whether or not to support said developer financially is my call.

I know it's a losing battle, sex sells has been a marketing truism longer than I've been alive. Nevertheless, I refuse to compromise my values.

Equating a bit of skin to pornography is wildly out of proportion.

Socialite: "My goodness, Mr. Churchill... Well, I suppose... we would have to discuss terms, of course... "
Churchill: "Would you sleep with me for five pounds?"
Socialite: "Mr. Churchill, what kind of woman do you think I am?!"
Churchill: "Madam, we've already established that. Now we are haggling about the price”

Not really. It is the same thing, it's simply a matter of degree, much like the conversation above.

It's called hyperbole. It's a valid debate tactic.

It's probably just the wording, but this makes it sounds like you want every game to accommodate children. I understand wanting to play games with your kids, but let's leave something for those who want more adult content too. Also, nothing about showing skin needs to be gratuitous or excessive.

As I said, wildly out of proportion. To say that showing skin is inherently pornographic is to not see the degrees in the matter, at which point anything short of a burqa would appear pornographic. There is a world of difference between, say, a cut-off pant leg and a postal stamp-size bikini.

If anything it was an ad hominem.

Having said all of that, this is no longer relevant to Ember, so if we want to carry on with this it'd be best to move it someplace else.

I do like the idea of body sliders or even a handful of pre set body types for each gender to pick from during creation. Something as simple as charcter silhouttes ranging from say Winston to Torbjorn in Overwatch really adds a lot of diversity when you are running around traffic hubs and was one of the bigger short comings of Firefall, even if the frames were slightly different sizes.

No, just that I'll be voting with my dollars.

I kind of do an eyeroll on this subject after seeing the Engineer in OBFF.

Fair enough.

It only appears as an ad hominem because you didn't quote the whole paragraph.

Most people hit on the major topics quite well here. If you're in combat, and are a seasoned warrior... you won't "jiggle" much. Have jiggle physics, sure. But some anime stylized mmo's are just painful to look at. I figure those designing the game will make it somewhere in between. A mild amount of jiggling. (enough to appease the player, but not enough to be a jiggle based game)

Combat armor doesn't show skin. (obvious reasons) Showing skin pretty much screams "shoot/claw/stab/maim here!" That trope has been beaten into the ground. Best to leave it a little more reaslistic. Sure, outfit customization can be altered as design rendering applies, but for starting outfits, I'd have no problem with everyone wearing similar, combat grade covering. (if you're character ends up an elite ninja who never gets hit. Go full kunoichi style and wear almost nothing. But you shouldn't have high level armor rating with low covering)

The last part saw a couple comment on (and agree) is yet another common trope in many games of "small girl big gun". If you're carrying heavy gear, you won't be petite. Women can be large. There are large framed (6'0+ 170lb+ ) women out there who carry more gear than some men. You WON'T see smaller framed men/women carrying a minigun. It just doesn't happen. Fantasy applies, and sure you can go with "the suit's servos help lighten the weight" but I'd rather see some of these tropes get less screen time. It's kinda played out at this point.
