I'm a .. well I was, a founder for both Firefall and Warframe, in the initial year of both games, I'd put my money on Firefall to become the better one. On paper it had the co-op open world, Warframe initialy was 4man instanced. Boy was I wrong those years later.

But as games go towards a 'hub' open world, I got a huge flashback to Tabula Rasa, if anyone remembers that NCsoft game. Where a active open world could be attacked (and taken over) by aliens, it was up to you to defend or take back the hubs.
I really liked Tabula Rasa. Their needler was a good weapon, and they did a very good blend of open world and multiplayer with the PvE AI interacting with itself to spice things up. It was ahead of its time in many ways. It was a shame it went under!

Warframe released -snip
You know what might be kind of cool? An aspect of PUBG added. Where we can find upgrades and equipment along the way that we can use during that one instance of a fight. Maybe have a map mode where we go in with stock equipment and it Mimics the PUBG/King of the Kill Playstyle. Maybe its some sort of EMP zone, or a zone behind the melding that would shut down some of the digital gear, so they have to use gas powered gear until they can swipe some Chosen tech.

Yeah, the only reason why I'm still sticking round after firefell...I loved the intense brontodon king fights with randoms and running halfway across the map to kill it...good times. Hope the Eidolons in warframe will match up

I got a love-hate relationship with warframe though I stopped playing it already (when firefall went to crap I moved on to warframe since it has similarities and though I have also stopped playing warframe because I did not like the direction the game was going) it's nice to see they are finally moving to an at least semi-open world. one of the main reasons I stopped playing warframe was that EVERYTHING was instanced and too small of a scale(1-4 on normal missions to 8 players on a raid) that community was barely a factor in anything. while the graphics and gameplay kept me hooked for quite a while, I finally got fed up lul.
I'm really looking forward to ember. what firefall was and what ember will be is just my cup of tea ;)

update :D
a friend wanted me to carry his noob ass in warframe.. and since I wanted to check out the POE update well...
POE is just a wider instance giving the illusion of an open world and still limited to only 4 players at a time.. there's also a semblance of dynamic events buuuuut overall, the place feels empty. also gotta add the fact that this update added a ton more grind to the game..

I still play warframe to me it was about the story and the co-op plus the space ninja thing got to me :D. I am hoping there will be more openish world apart from the one released, the small maps in the galaxy are fun but can be repetitive after awhile. It has its flaws for sure however the gameplay is fun and it does a lot of things really well.

When Em8er is ready to play this will be my main game and warframe on the side as i love them both. They are 2 unique games that i hope will continue for a very long time!!

LOG IN AND JOIN SOME RANDOMS TO SECURE AN AREA. LOG OUT AND GO TO WORK.

OR JOIN SOME THUMPING. HELP EM TO BROTECT THE THMPR. GRAB LOOTZ AND LOG OUT. ENJOY DINNER WITH YOUR FAMILIE.

WANT TO CHILL AND DO SOME CRAFTING? THE BAR IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER. TILL REALITY B*TCH SLAP YOU TO BED.

HAVING A SH*TTY DAY AND WANNA VENT SOME STEAM? OR FEELING BADASS SUICIDAL CRAZY? BE MY GUEST AND JOIN US IN A INVASION. LOG OUT AND HAVE AN EPIC DREAM.

MARK MY WORDS.
NO MATTER HOW SH*TTY YOUR FREE TIME IS. NO MATTER WHAT YOUR GAMING TIME IS.
WHENEVER YOU GO ONLINE.
WE. WILL BE THERE.

This is exactly why I love firefall.. just log in and boom! there's a death squad in your spawn area(LMAO) a nado nearby and some thumping on the other side. no instances, no loading screens... there's a feeling of that the game world and community is alive and this is what I hope ember will be

this talking about firefall made me remember that today is one of those rainy days in florida where I would go home after work and fire up firefall. I would find my self a nice spot in devils tusk and start thumping for some uranium. After I would do some raids like warfront and close the night going back to sertao to thump for specific creature parts. Do it till I fall a sleep in my chair to wake up in the base with no thumper hours later....god I love that firefall life. just grinding like a beast.

One thing that I liked about Firefall was that you can switch classes (or frames) at the right times. Most games out there just restricts you to only the class you’ve chosen at the creation and some requires you to pay $$$ to change. It’s one of the reasons why I gave up playing any online RPG.

If there was an event or series of events in a map zone, chances are they only occur one at a time or all at once but they are too far out at each other. Firefall felt like a dynamic world and you had many options on how to start each time you log in. Want to team up and fight back an incursion? No problem. Oh look, a tornado just spawned and someone near you was marked for death squad. What would you do? If you managed to finish a couple of missions while doing popup events, you ask yourself “How did I did that?”

Players will open their planetary map and find battles waging across entire zones, and be able to jump in and fight in a battle at any time. Players in MEKs will be going up against shape-shifting beasts that shred steel and bone. THUMPRs will be going up against Kaiju in hand to hand battles to the death. Bases will be built by Shifters and Humans alike, granting more vehicles, weapons and strategic advantages to use during the war. The same bases will be attacked by forces with giant Kaiju that rip apart structures bit by bit. Everywhere will be the chaos of open war, played out across huge zones.

No other game offers that experience to date. A part of Firefall did once, during the beta, but they quickly shifted away from Chosen invasions to focus on multiple MMO tropes like daily, questing and raids. But if you remember Firefall when the servers rebooted, and war raged across ALL of New Eden to push back the Chosen, that's the feeling Em-8ER will capture and hone and refine.

This is the reason I left Defiance and then left Firefall. Please don't let it go away the same as they did.

I loved Planetside 2, Eps the continent of Esamir. I drove a magrider, often by myself. The reason I stopped playing was because I'm easily frustrated by PvP games. I was definitely also a BIG fan of MAX armor when not doing the tank thing.

If Em-8er can deliver an experience which matches the epic scope of PS2 sans frustration, I can easily see it becoming my main title.

I've been playing mech combat games for many MANY years. Armored Core(starting with #1 on PSX) Mechwarrior two and even some Virtual ON(don't judge). I trend more towards heavies with high damage weapons. I made a Daishi with gauss an PPC that shut down when it was fired from overheating, but you better hope I missed with it.

Any mention of mechwarrior games and I'm in love. I remember playing on the pc when it came on 3.5 discs.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/MechWarrior_(1989_video_game)

Is where I started on the series. Mechwarrior 2 PC still has a great OST and Mechwarrior 3 and expansion had a good story and voice overs. I too ran with extra range large lasers and 26-30 heat sinks and sniped mechs legs for max salvage. Sadly only player a little Virtual On at a friend's house.

Em-8ER certainly will give you an experience like nothing ever before. I truly believe the heavy and artillery type builds will be thwre some day. I loves gauss cannons.

We on the other hand, we're literally going to be pioneers. Fighting a war, mining resources, building bases, towns and colonising and entire planet. Its practically out of the old west, i'm going to have to get myself a six-shooter and a ten gallon hat when em-8er launchers.
That makes it sound like a MMO shooter Minecraft style game but more like no-mans sky for gathering, I ain't complaining though

You might want to step it up a notch because it looks like we got ourselves a competition:

https://playpantropy.com/
looks very nice i think its the closest game to em8er that i have seen so far!

we have some top trump cards though
- Dev team
- Boss man tunes
- Community
- Forum
- Unique back story and characters
- Firefall past experience

I am not going to deny its competition however rather the game is made to the highest standards than
rushing it otherwise we probably have to wait even longer to alter things, fix buges etc etc.

for me em8er wins because if not i will wear the most ridiculous outfit and probably go to jail
.......em8er team dont let that happen !

We still have a chance though; one of Em8er’s schtick is the mining mechanic. Pantropy uses pick axes to get the ores which is different compared to ours anyway.

1. Em-8ER's resource collection will be much more dynamic (THMPR mines; you fight off waves of enemies that get progressively tougher the longer the mining session; escort the MEKA back to base). I find that WAY more fun than pick ax mining...yuk.

2. Panthropy's environment seems fixed in it's detail(s) whereas Em-8ER's will change based on how far along, or not, the terraforming in a particular area has progressed.

3. Base building in Em-8ER, at the moment, will be at certain pre-established locations (possibly even in layout/design), that the players won't have to construct/place on their own but will slowly develop/upgrade as more resources are put into that location/structure. Panthropy reminds me of Subnautica's base construction system.

4. No PvP. Thus no balancing issues to contend with between PvP/PvE content and community. Should save on Dev time and cost.

5. Kaiju v/s Mech IMO is basically a cosmetic/feel issue v/s combat mechanics as those could be very similar. However how large and destructive to the environment are those Kaiju and Mechs going to be? I know how massive and mean Team Em-8ER wants the Kaiju to get to...as large and nasty as absolutely possible without breaking the server and fun factor.
