Aside from model and color scheme, it occurs to me that various other dropship attributes might be useful

- Speed to bring a replacement frame
- Speed to lift a thumper
- performs a flyby and shoots enemies

I don't know that these are good examples, but there is an opportunity to imbue an rpg aspect to it.

In particular, I feel it would be important to be able to give a ship a name just like it happens with boats.

Personally I always favored dropships that could go to and form orbit really fast. That sounds easy and simple, but remember on any world where the air pressure is like that of Earth or greater moving at such speeds would also make a lot of heat. So dropships that move at high speeds also need heat shields and other ways to keep from melting and being ripped apart.

Also because I do play a lot sci-fi games I also favor dropships that can do touch and go drop offs and pick ups. As in the dropship doesn't need to stop fly to drop you off or pick you up. For example in mecha games it would those dropships that ether launch your mech out them like a cannon or drop them out of a hatch. And for picking up your mech without stopping that is where things like sky hooks and stuff come in. Think powerful cables with anchors and/or hooks and/or magnets on them that can easily grab your mech pick it up.

Yes, doing things like this more dangerous than normal drop off and pick up because of the all the risk in doing it. But at the same time it is also one of the safest options when dropping off units or picking them up from active battlefields.

So if we could have RPG elements in making our own dropships. I would make my dropship be one of these high speed ones with a powerful cane set up and mech launcher. So it can fire me into the battle area like a cannonball or even into a boss for an easy power first strike melee bonus.

So if we could have RPG elements in making our own dropships.
Much things such as:

- Stealth for sneaky and behind the scenes infiltration heavily guarded
Lets say Dropships systems could either use low power or turn off for a short time as it glides.
Then the pilots/mechs either jump out or reel down from a cable to an area for less attention.

- Rapid deployment for speedy get in or exits
Very powerful boosts but needs to landing port down sooner best for short to medium distances.

- Extra capacity to take more supplies for platoons
Carrying more is usually better with better energy capacity although could be an easier target so protecting this big mama will be required.

- Kamikaze to use as a distraction or cause some damage (Much wasted resources so last resort)
It is total chaos and your lost hope is to cause more chaos with a final fireworks event sadly the beloved dropship is the answer hmm

- Suppression fire short period of time blasts away but capacity could be smaller
Built in weaponary for short duration sustained fire to help clear areas with the cost of a small capacity.

- Air Med is it a bird is it a plane nope its a medical dropship picks up heals then politely boots you out into the battlefield.
This nice medical dropship is state of the art all flying docs like these you heal folks and saved the day its a hot target so this needs support for safe travels!

etc etc etc

It is something about this idea that gets to me. Because it reminds me of those times when you are downed in a combat zone and another player flies by in a helicopter, lands by you, jumps out and revives you, before jumping back into the helicopter and flying away while raining down bullets at the enemy from gun turret. It is rare to see in most pvp games. But everyone has that "i can be your hero" moment in games. And it is both awesome and kind of funny.

But anyway always loved the idea of non-combat focused players and roles in games. And the idea of a player or group of players flying around in medic dropships healing other players or evacing them to a safe area before the enemy does a massive AOE attack. Just makes me happy to think about.

Remember in one of the chief chats with talks of roles/jobs so that made me wonder what kind of jobs and could they link with dropships too.

- Pilot, perhaps after earning experience and passing some small tests you can work your way up different types of dropship such as the size, grades and class type e.g. Small, medium, large dropships

- Aerial Surveillance, calling out targets from above is a nice thing even though you cannot really shoot them because these equipment needs the reapers full concentration and these units costs very much!!

E.g. calling out targets or areas of potential incoming threat such as the formation of platoons building up at a different area to stomp before this becomes a problem. Even co-ordinating with the battle commander when large invasions take place etc etc.

- Taxi service using a dropship or plop a vehicle from a bike to a 4x4 and zoom out of the dropship you can get to pick up folks who need a ride. E.g. request for taxi service can be made using your device so you can pick up npc's to actual players.

The player get special licences from the taxi port and for good service and loyalty get better taxi upgrades such as horns, engine type and better wheels to customize your taxi dropship / vehcile etc etc.

- Architects help to design your perfect home or base and many have different expertise from small homes to huge heavily fortified. E.g. an npc would show you the available list or can find on the device, if a player is part of the Arc Corp they can be hired to build for others fees are set using ingame currency or resources that the npc show if folks need some help etc.

An Arc Crop boss inspects the home at the end of construction if the home is poop the buyer gets back their monies and can give the Architect another go or use another Architect to help!

- R&D during times to uncover new and alternative ways to protect our reapers or weaponize.
The team of R&D are sent out to field test prototypes recording their findings and improving their skills.

E.g. you may be working with lab techs to weapon smiths uncovering ways to improve survival odds to specializing armor coating and so on. They would be sent using R&D dropships which are unique in the sense of its style and capacity to carry specimens to artifacts and analysis equipment of things such as strange organisms collected from the ground etc

- Battle Chef don't argue with battle chef has come to cook you a dish served with encouragement.
Some say getting food is vital others say adrenaline boosts from medics are better who is to say depending on the role you play.

E.g. The Battle chef may have to get into fishing and learn ways to cook using traditional and unconventional ways in the battle field. When you cook food it can draw wild life too so this is a way some battle chef use distraction other times odourless meals are made and boost the reapers sprint duration by X amount until food affects is finished.

Storing food and things can be tricky thankfully the battle chef has big storage in a food dropship just don't expect a full menu unless its for the after party!

- Air-tertainers these flying show folks come to bring a smile from dancers to bands and even tiki tribes etc

E.g. On special events when npc's or folks could use a nudge on the fun side these specialist come in to boost their energy level by X amount. Yes it is a buff but a buff for a big audience while earning the Air-tentainers reps, rank and some ingame monies and even skins etc.

- Lawyer, so you broken a few laws thrown a poop at a jerk drill sergeant, well not to worry lawyer reaper is at hand working on ways to get you out of trouble and jail too.

Lawyers work on small tasks with npc's at first and at times when a player really needs help to get out from pirate capture to Reaper council prison then those lawyers can help.

- Care support (Childcare), sounds odd but hear me out with children at the sky city they would have toys and gizmos to play such as drones to pets.

E.g. the Care support would keep the children amused by micro managing ways from enough food to enough rest and checking with doc to see how they are medically. Making them all in tip top shape while the parents and so are at their usual jobs in the heart of the Em8er or somewhere else.

As the Care support progresses can get inside knowledge from drone network including what the children and pets have heard. You could also with experience and time have children's drone platoons.

They say its dangerous or child labour though for the children its playing a game safetly and some get free toy upgrades such as palm tree drone with falling concussion coconuts a good incentive & deal hmm

With perhaps many types of roles/jobs there may be many types of dropships and ways they look.
This way you can get one's that may be distinguished and specific to the the role adds a collection of dropship types as one would collecting cars.

Saying that to showcase your collection a dropship area / garage would be nice that can show your collection walking and expecting it one by one using a selector panel to view different dropships as they spawn.

In some of the MMOs I use to play. I made a good deal of money by being a taxi for other players. Investing group transport abilities and/or vehicles was always a good choice in game where the map size was so larger it could take people real life hours to run from one of the map to the other. So going to places where players normally gathered and posting in chat that you are a taxi just saves them also of time and energy.

Hell, in some games there are classes that built around movement and transporting groups of players around and/or goods around. For example in the MMO Anarchy Online the Fixer class was the one that could run super fast and was the only ones that use a hidden teleporting network all over the planet. This hidden network had exist points that didn't exist for other players. Plus the Fixers could teleport themselves and others into the network without a need for an entry terminal. I use to make bank when guilds was doing dungeon raids or world boss hunts to parts of the planet that was hard to get to.

In few games the term taxi some times you act as an escort and bodyguard. Although this can go by many other names a game to help make clear between players who'll only take someone to an area and drop them off vs a player who will guide someone through an area and help them fight. For example in one game I remember one term for it was called "sherpaing" when being done mountain areas and dungeons. Thought a good number of people think of these type of guides as being a type of mercenary.

Going by how large the world map is in Em-8er and how hard it is to get into and out of some areas in the game. I could see a number of players making good money by acting as transporters or guides for them. It is one of those odd player economy things that pops up in games that has nothing to do with shops or auction houses, and was based around player or player personal trading and loot rolling (in some games with a rare item drops everyone in the group gets a popup window asking to them to roll for the item or to pass on it.). So it was part of the game's economy that most dev's couldn't track on a small scale but could take note of on the meta scale. Mostly by taking note of what items in the game that players for using other than money as part of this trade network. And making changes to the game if players feel some times are just way to rare or hard to get. Even more so if the game doesn't have any sort of bad luck protection or pity system in place. Because not all players have good luck and RNG heavy systems will have it do that a some players will never find the drops they are looking for no matter how many times they farm for it. This also why many gamers hate luck based systems because they know their real life personal luck is low what is normal.

Side note, some of those games where I acted as guide only asked for money if the rare drop I was looking for didn't show up. It was not uncommon for some guilds to do multiple tours of a place in a row looking for rare drop as there payment for helping a person or group. And it was never a good idea to cheat a guide because they make friends with a lot of other players in the game and being backlisted by guides made it so player would have a hard time making new teams as most people now know they are untrustworthy.
