I am probably thinking far ahead but wondered what will your group or alliances cater for are you going to be big boss world reaper eliminator group or an RP group etc etc

Was thinking more on a crafter / support group

It would be small and the alliance would be bigger so we could support them when we can and ofc make much stuff!!!

Hmm... this got me thinking. Will there be a system in the game for paying other players for jobs that can't be cheated? Like an automatic checking/credit system.

Because I often play a mercenary or boss hunter in games, I often help other players out when they want help killing something. Going by the game I ether ask for payment up front before the fight or my payment will be a percentage of the rewards from the fight/mission/quest or just that one really rare item drop.

In most games everyone is just on the honor system. Which is good and all for most things but doesn't really help us people who like to make and try to run a business in games because their is not much in the way to stop people from breaking that trust and not paying. But if there was a third party NPC banking group in the game than players seeking to hire other players for a job first have put the payment in the bank to stop people from saying that have something that they don't or if it a loot drop it is automatically picked up by the system to stop loot thefts. This will ensure that the payment will always be there for the player for services rendered. This can also act like a jobs board where players and guild can post listing about jobs they are willing to do or jobs they they'll pay for.

I'm not sure how it would be done as I have not really put any thought into this post. But the key is to make an automated system for paying other players for helping you in tasks. Because I really don't want to see those shame and shun threads in this game saying, do not sell to or work with this person because they do not pay and cheat people.

I am thinking the name of my group is going to be "Wholesome Murder Division" (WMD for short) ...I'll let you figure out what my group will be doing. By group though I really only expect it to be me myself and I but since I get guild name reservation...

Probably a Raid focused group, that goes for high-end loot.
You do realize there are no "Raids" in Em-8er...right?

To be fair, there kinda will be. The massive, giant Kaiju that frequently spawn will require quite a few players to work together to take down. Meant to be an area-wide event everyone participates in. So in a sense, that is Ember's "raid" scene.

Hmm... will raids have people break into different groups tasked with different things to make it work?

For example in one game I use to play when a world boss showed up people would be split into one of three main groups to help kill it. The main attack force, area control force, or support force. Each person was given a list of tasks to do if they wanted extra rewards from the raid. The main attack force had to focus on killing the boss and holding its aggro. So each player would have side missions like do X amount of damage to the boss, stagger or break the boss's guard X amount of times, and things like that. Players in the area control team had to focus on the army of adds that comes with the boss, so they have to protect the main attack force's back while they are dealing with the boss as well as protecting the support team from being overrun. So they had side missions like kill X amount of adds, assists the main attack force by doing X amount of damage, assist the support force by escorting to and from the battlefront and bases camp. The support force main job was to keep everyone alive as those battles could last for 20 minutes at least from start to end with elite players in it. So they had side missions like heal players for X amount or heal this many players, run supplies to members of the attack force or area control forces X amount of times (the battles was so long that people's gear would degrade or they'd run out of ammo and stuff), revive X amount of players.

There were two xpacs I was a tank for hire in WoW. Outside of that, firefall was great to just stop, jump off the bike and help someone finish a thump. I believe this has been talked about before where the bonus from participation should have a higher scaling than firefall did. As for people asking for help, sorry that it's the internet but leaving it to an honesty policy would be nice.

As for the raiding element in the war fronts of Em-8ER, I'd see it more as sloppy world communication at first with an over time adjustment to familiar names calling things out. There will be clans/guilds/armies, whatever the name will be, that can easily have rankings based on who is most fit for coordinating attacks. Smaller squads who know each other well will be more comfortable with being lead. The tactics can freely roll through your own mind.

My biggest hope is there will be minimal griefing over deaths and loss of bases. Can easily see a group getting mad at the world participation/failures for thei base getting destroyed. That's one reason Grummz is adding in the community being driving to pitch in resources for base development and terraforming progression. Everyone will feel the loss of a front line outpost.

Wow! Exactly what I was wondering/worried about. Good to see Grummz and the Devs are already thinking about it.

Oh i think vehicles are going to be good in this mix anyone remember the A1 Hauler in firefall?
Used to take several folks and just drive from point to point would just jump out and help and them get back in drive off to our next objective.

What i liked about it could use the vehicle to bash and make chosen go flying into the water that was satisfying :D

I wonder if em8er vehicles would have space as an example

You have a nice Apc but you could add a module which could reduce the amount of space
lets say from 8 people down to 6.

examples of the vehicle modules:

- Defense module: Adds better shielding but top speed of vehicle slightly reduced if shield takes too much hits

- Support module: Adds repair station but shield is slightly reduced and vehicle with faster acceleration

- Offensive module: Adds Suppression firing weapon one front one back but the vehicle is slightly slower.

Looking at vehicles there could be many roles and transporting injured folks to safetly to deploy them back out.

So imagine there could be dedicated drivers who could courier supplies and even recon units on their speedy bikes or mek even attack units too.

One thing the vehicles will have a good advantage if they can carry several people and how it could be used perhaps as a barricade between yourselves and the others to buy some time.

Even drive it into the heart of the attack before leaping out as a diversion meks are going to be fun and the addition of vehicles just imagine a group of you all jumping off and making your escape it is like something from a movie !!!!!!!!!!

Then i was wondering would vehicles just have enough space for the pilots because if they had vehicles for the meks too then those would be big vehicles like the dropships so it seems more logical for the pilots because there are some who love to be just a pilot and out of their meks or vehicles at times.

This would be slightly risky because if the vehicles go kablewy then you would have to find a way to get another vehicle/mek during this time you would be your most vulnerable still it would make me think carefully on my distance and getting others to help us out.

oh and light vehicles i'd love to see them pooping mines or just pressing that turbo and wooshing past.

Yes, it would also give the people who are better at things other than fighting a moment to shine and be a hero to others players.

For example, the person who sucks at fighting but is great at racing and path finding can be a transporter. Using special vehicles designed to carry a lot of material or people. The person who loves to organize things and keep track of the needs of others just stay in basecamp use their abilities for logistics. The people who are better at RTS games than they are at 1st or 3ed person shooters could be inside the command tent looking at a map of the battlefield and marking targets and objects of interest that is pinged on the radar of nearby players in that location. And so on, and so on.

Never underestimate the power of a good taxi driver in a larger scale raid to turn the tide in the battle. I can't tell you how many times over the years that I've been on the winning side of a massive raid or pvp war only because we have a few good people who didn't fight but just taxied people around in there multiple person mounts / vehicles.

as long as these groups/alliances actually do something useful instead of ones like in warframe which are just chat channels or blueprint dispensers but have no other purpose/reason to be.

If I was incharge of a clan, I would have it as a skill based raid clan. So in the clan there would be groups inside it split by character class. So medics would be in one group, heavies would be in another etc... each group though would be divided into ranks, most likely ranks 1-10. 1 being Private or Rookie, and 10 being Commander.

Each group can only have 1 Commander, and each Commander will meet for each raid we wish to complete. I being General of the clan would oversee all of this but would leave it to the Commanders to decide who comes with us on each raid. some will require everyone, some will require not everyone but the best of the best, like a special task force, and some won't require much giving more freedom to just willy nilly pick any member who happens to be online.

If I had to choose a name I would go with "The Druke" Meaning "The Thunder Dragon" It symbolises lighting branching out and reaching as far as it can muster. going with what we would wish to do and reach out to as many players as possible to build our community.

if the game has Flag customization given we have this feature all together this would totally be the flag.

I've been in a few games where players had ability to customize the structure and distribution of power within a guild and alliance. There are a few different types of this ranging from the common tiered ladder or pyramid structure to the ring structure to the web structure to the free form / formless structure.

The tier ladder or pyramid structure is most common for organized military-like guilds because of the chain of command. I still remember that time I was in a guild where they founders of it based it on they same kind of structure they have in Bleach. Guild leader (1)< Sub-leaders (1-4) < Squad captains (1-9) < Vice captains (1 per squad) < Lieutenants (1 -2 per squad) < Squad members (1 -15 per squad)< Normal guild members (up to member cap of the guild) < new recruits (up to member cap of the guild). Every member of the guild had to follow the orders of the person above them in the ranks when we was in raids. Unless you was in a squad and than you could ignore orders of everyone else below the rank of squad captain because each squad was specialized for different tasks and captains wouldn't order another squad around unless it was needed their captain was away. I was leader of vanguard attack squad (squad 7), I and every other member of my squad had the symbol of squad 7 as a sub-title by our names.

Guild leaders was also seen as something like generals in world raid events. As there was a player government and every 2 weeks or so we voted on who would be the leader of the faction and their supporting members (player with the ability to do things like set taxes in NPC shops and stuff. Often times those taxes was used to buy things everyone in faction use like exp buffs for a week and such.). In the world raid events even the chats was broken up into tiers to cut down on confusion. The faction leaders could talk to the sever and a guild leader only chat (sub-leaders would also be in there if the guild leader was offline). There was alliance only chat (only guilds with a contract to work together could use that chat). And even within the guild itself where was chat for only the guild leader and squad captains can use. A chat for each squad itself where only members of that squad can use. And just normal guild chat. And outside of that there was normal game chats you would see in every other game. It seems at first having all those different types of chats would make it harder for people to talk to each other get things done. But it really made thing easier when dealing with really large groups of people. Because each tier of chat really didn't have all that many people in it, it made making plans about that to easier to follow as you don't just see a wall of text from hundreds of people at once. The leaders would organize a plan to work together then pass on that details to the people below them, until you get own to the teams of each group in the faction. Even people who are not in guilds or even solo could get an idea of the plan from the government member in charge of making public announcements. If everyone did their part the whole faction on the sever would act as one unit to get the task done. In this case destroying the mother ship / battleship of the enemy faction in the game.
