Yes the My Account page at https://my.em8er.com/ shows all the backer items you own on your account. Subscribers get the monthly skins applied to their account every month along with access to the Vision book, the previous demo release, and other goodies. You can download all the goodies available to you at https://my.em8er.com/downloads
The monthly sub pays for server upkeep and advancement of other goals such as development time of the Heavy frame. Without monthly subs there would be no servers and less stuff revealed to everyone so far. The skins earned is a thank you from the Em8er team.

The demo is up and running for some time now have popped by each day with no issue so far!
Yes its definitely in the download section and keep an eye for [LATEST] so that you have the latest demo.
I think you can download it anytime unless they state they have an issue, have not had an issue downloading any demos so far so to me it is very reliable.

Just to re-confirm, yes the "Em-8ER Monthly Patron Subscription" program is what Grummz is referring to when he says "subscribe" and when he talks about "subs" or "sub goals".
And yes, the skins you have on your My Account page's "My Inventory" section are the skins you have collected by way of the Em-8ER Monthly Patron Subscription Program; only during the months you have been a subscriber!
This program was built completely by the Em-8ER Dev Team and uses Stripe as the payment processor. At this time, PayPal is not available for the subscription program.
