So why have i had a mail from Ember?

Fair enough, I'm just not sure who you're defending by disparaging the project. Is Ember worth investing in? Who knows? I respect everyone's ability to make informed choices about what to invest their time and money in, and I recognize that while you are not an authority of any kind, you are...

What weapons would you like to see?

Thanks to the internet I was under the impression this was a Bazooka that fired AR15s. In the meantime, I see a lot of ideas in this thread, but we need to collect and organize this shi*. I'll get the spreadsheets and create a public copy.

    Cyberpunk treatment for Ember?

For the mercenary/government faction? No. As aliens, I could see that being something awesome. We could retain the hivemind aesthetic the Chosen had, and make their ultimate goal the same: consume the universe. Except, instead of a malignant sentient wizard fart (???) it's a legion of cyborgs...

Design Concept: Land Ownership and Terraforming.

Got it, sounds like a season based thing, and I think I prefer it that way for now. And for the record I pictured the Firefall map exactly too, just that you could keep scrolling out even more. For now I think a biodome with surrounding badlands would be a good starting point, and as the game...

    Ember forum loads CPU

If you unminify the thing, pausing is already a function in there. pause: function() { this.paused = !0; return this }, It likely won't be too difficult to stick a pause/resume button in a corner somewhere, perhaps? Could be tricky to reference the function, but...

Design Concept: Land Ownership and Terraforming.

From what I've read here, our ideas of scale are completely different. When I hit [M] I expect to be able to scroll out to a solar system map, and then further to a star chart. I'm not concerned about individual planets being ruined by extreme investments by troll companies, because there would...

So why have i had a mail from Ember?

I will never, ever, understand how these flames happen. People say "That's it, I'm out, I don't want anything to do with this, take my name off the list". Then they come back and write a 7 paragraph retort complete with images and a thesaurus at hand. Are you actually upset? Are you just...

    Monetization/Funding Ideas

Tack on a Trove/patreon aggregate program until we get to that point and I think it'll work.

Design Concept: Land Ownership and Terraforming.

Exactly. You would lease plots of land from the ownership, and terraform it to standard. It could even be the major quest/mission system. Government wants mostly lush earth-like worlds, private corporations want different types of planets. Omnidyne might want a planet made out of sand so they...

Design Concept: Land Ownership and Terraforming.

Just from the title, I'm expecting something like Path of Exile. Crafting currency based economy has been done before, and with great success, but I've only ever played the three month leagues in PoE, no idea how it would translate to permanent (the economy in Standard's a different beast...

    Monetization/Funding Ideas

If a monthly subscription model won't work, and in my heart I don't think it will, consider a yearly, perhaps? Sell the game for around $40, and $60 for Ember+, and require $10 annually. The cash shop is a sore, and I've seen some pretty tired and desperate integrations before. I would much...

Current Organizational Terminology feels wrong to me

If we're going with mercs, then this would probably work best. Also, each name can be abbreviated to a unique channel, so that's good too. Company and Brigade could alternatively be assigned to Outfit and Company respectively.

Design Concept: Land Ownership and Terraforming.

It was my impression that Ember would take place across multiple planets, perhaps simultaneously. If Ember occurred on a single planet over its lifespan, or only on one planet at a time, plot ownership would be restricted to the upper class, or require a contracting system like you described...

    Enemy scaling

One of the brainstorming sessions we had while in the Discord (and I can make a separate thread on it too, it regarded persistent universe expansion and planet tiering) touched into how you can create flat horizontal progression that was also meaningful, and the answer lies within your arsenal...

Got banned from the Firefall Forums for Spam.

I wonder. If we call them "The Great Investors", will they miss it long enough? Euphemistic language, go! We'll use Firefell instead of Ember, and "The Chair" for The9. They'll never see it coming, google translate doesn't cover it well enough. We can have discussions for hours, maybe even days O.o

    Monetization/Funding Ideas

To start, I'm sorry it's this long, but it covers multiple facets of monetization. Also, if the thread exists already, I apologize for starting another. I know this discussion feels like double-edged haggling, but it's one we've got to have, and have properly...

If you can get some models not under pseudo-NDA to a point you'd like to share, would you...

If you can get some models not under pseudo-NDA to a point you'd like to share, would you consider a modeling stream? :D It'd spark discussion, excitement, and maybe some appreciation for how long this stuff takes.

Design Concept: Land Ownership and Terraforming.

If this was the brainstorm session I was involved in, I'll add more of what we came up with. If plots are not clan/army (coalition?) exclusive, player plots could also be implemented. Regardless, acquisition could be done two ways: Random assignment (cheap) Plot Title (expensive) For random...

    Introduction Thread

Hey! I'm Matt (DeyjaVou), played Firefall actively from 0.7 to present day, sunk hundreds to thousands of hours into thumping and mentoring, and enjoyed the dream game that effectively filled every niche I wanted out of a game. The game hooked me, and the community kept me there from 1.0 to 1.7...
