"The generators are down! I repeat, the generato-" The radio transmission was suddenly interrupted by an ear curdling eruption of static, and then the coms fell silent. The soldier looked up across the mess-hall, as others of his battalion looked to one another in confusion. Across the table, Clarkson broke the silence as he went to grab his cup of water. "What did he just say, I heard something about generators?" But his reach was cut short by the Gatestrider sitting next to him, grabbing Clarkson by the wrist and nodding at the cup. "Look." The Gatestrider murmured in a sheepish tone.

The battalion looked over at the cup, heck, it even drew Kit's attention away from his meal... and that really took some doing. As they all gathered around, the water inside of the cup suddenly tremored. It was subtle, but noticeable. Then another tremor came, this time the whole table shook and Kit's meal fell onto the floor. Clarkson looked up at Kit, expecting him to be devastated. But instead to his surprise, the reaper who'd typically be throwing a tantrum over such a waste of a meal had his mouth wide open. He was staring through Clarkson even, no? Over him.
-
As Kit's eye's glistened orange, so did the rest of the mess-hall shortly after. Clarkson followed the rest of the gazes of his battalion, joining them as he turned to look back over his shoulder and through the large wall of windows which gave them a clear view of the bases courtyard and runway. The windows suddenly exploded into millions of pieces, falling to the floor as a gut wrenching sound boomed across the hall and sent chairs, tables and people tumbling back.
-
Clarkson stumbled to his feet, coughing and panting as a cloud of smoke and fire danced throughout the hall. Wails of despair and cries for help shortly followed as Clarkson's ear's adjusted from the high pitched buzzing. The situation almost seemed unreal, only moments before, they'd been celebrating. Now this? He looked up at the shattered windows, falling to his knees as an unrecognisable reaper screamed and ran out of the window. Flames in his stead.
-
As the chaos unravelled, the high pitched buzzing shortly returned and overwhelmed Clarkson. It stunned him as a gust of wind blew past and cleared enough of the smoke to make the outside recognisable. Then he saw it, out there on the runway. A towering silhouette, a monster.
Heavy Vs Kai-ju
So one of the most iconic visions for Em8er, is the large mecha, standing off against the large Kai-ju. It's very exciting to think about, and I think it's important that it's done right too. So I was curious to how everybody else envisioned the combat to play out between the Heavy Frame/ Mining Mechas and Kai-ju in-game.
What kind of mechanics do we want to see, how do we want these large entities to interact with one another? Will they grapple? What kind of an effect will they have on the terrain or even structures? What will this sound, look and feel like up close and afar? How will the combat compare and contrast the smaller frames?
What do you guys think?
