I think minigames could be a fun side addition to the game when players have obviously done everything and want something new, or if people just want a break from the shooter rpg style but still want to play the game. What I'm thinking mainly of is small little arcade games in main areas where players can play a game in competition for the high score. so maybe a spin on the snake game, Tsi-Hu pacman, tic tac toe, even board games like a miniature version of crixia chess or checkers etc. these could be sweet life givers to in game towns if they were set up like arcade machines. OOOOOORRRR.... you could have a few arcade machines about the town, BUT you have to go out and explore the world and discover hidden games. so snake might be in a bandit camp, while Tsi-Hu pacman, might be a drop from a boss kaiju. Some could even be exclusive rewards for certain events or even supporting the game.

Is that kinda like playing in a SF game where they have a holodeck and your characters go in there to play a fantasy game instead of the actual SF game...

I want to race NPCs and other players. I wound love to join things like racing leagues. Something like the IGPX would be nice. Using our omniframes to race around crazy tracks while also allowing the use of nonlethal attacks and weapons to slow down and knock out other racers.

For the people who don't know what IGPX was.

Remember in the early days of FireFall there was that underground race track you could go into if you found the "hidden" doors leading to it in TransHub.

I think so was that with the tunnels?? if i remember right the only thing missing was other racers

That reminds me of how much i enjoyed other racing games such as
jet moto 2 & 3 with their hover bike had a magnetic grappler to help with tight turns or what if you could pull someone closer and then wack them like in roadrash/road redemption.

Then i liked twisted metal 2 the end stories made it that more interesting because they were not just racers but had all something they wanted. I could imagine racer profiles and their background stories could be revealed in em8er on your special info hub after you defeat the npc certain times.

If it was not npc's but other players they could add their own background story and the race profile will be included perhaps.

Sometimes you could see them in the sky tower to make unlikely alliances especially when you need help in the tsi-hu race controlled districts.

Need for speed underground 2 was another fun game to customize our vehicles and put neons, and sound systems to upgrading the engines and turbos, even add some nice stylish body kits etc

Imagine having racing type vehicles/meks to use not just for racing but for open world stuff the only thing is they might not be as tough as the standard however they would have more speed so there is that trade off perhaps.

Then i was thinking after seeing gta what if we could go into a mode where we can see top down and help out on the field using remote controlled vehicles by dropping items or npc's to defend an area etc

They could also be used for recon and going to unrevealed regions though if they could get destroyed if not too careful. There is even a chance that the tsi-hu could even take over them so you might need to use your robot to recapture your stolen vehicle or go in yourself.

Plus we could have some races be tied in with the lore of the game, just like how in real life different races having some historical meaning behind them. Case and point, in real life we have the iditarod race. Now a days people do the race for fun. But it started out as a life or death race against the clock to supplies to the town before people died. Em-8er could also have a few races like that. Where there is lore behind the race and why there are set rules on how you can do the race.

For example, let's say there is a race where part way through you are force travel on the ground despite there being nothing stopping you from gliding or using your jets to fly. The reason could be that in the lore of the race the person(s) who started the race couldn't fly in that spot because of a powerful storm at the time making it to dangerous to fly or it was in battle where they was pinned down by AAs (anti-aircraft units) so couldn't risk being shot down.

This way you are not just doing a race but are retracing the steps of some historical figures.

I like that with the meaning of the race shows a tradition and not only that but a way to show manufacturing teams its latest greatest e.g

In automotive racing we have many types of car manufacturers to have them sponsor the driver and to use their vehicle in the race.

Some magazines or media would list an event to be featured in there show many enthusiast would be interested to tweak and style their vehicle for the world to see. They would have an entrance fee because it was not just any street race but one that was set by the council or some royal blood.

Demolition derby this could of been done because of the amount of additional trash in the wreckage to turn it into something useful. So they would use their Frankenstein vehicle and ram into others, the skill of the driver and the build of the vehicle was equally important.

Hill climbing race was another to get to the peak of the top first to perhaps lets say to get to higher grounds away from a flood or the ground cracking open and to get to the top would reset this occurrence by forcing a powerful way of energy that pushed back the flood or absorbed the shock of the ground cracking etc.

Alpine/down hill this i can imagine going really well with the meks avoiding obstacles getting to the bottom before the avalanche or the very dangerous hot lava rushing down to get to the gate to travel out in a speedy escape!

Cross country skiing with rifle shooting to develop their battle skills under harsh condition as the blizzard occurred they would find that skiing was efficient especially with the use of poles in the snowy conditions and to test their aim at hitting targets.
Earning points for hitting the target and finishing the race so even if a racer wins but could lose because of missed targets.

Skeleton racing i just vision this with a g-suit with energy shield around the pilot !!!

Drone racing having your little drones flying past a circuit in the gardens of the sky city some of the wipper snappiest of kids are the toughest challengers since they have mastered their skills in the simulation room at such a young age.

Buffalo racing (Kambala) was between two pairs of buffaloes. In villages, there is also a ritualistic aspect, as farmers race their buffaloes to give thanks for protecting them from diseases.

Dog sled racing lets for a moment consider that the sled in em8er is a a construction device on a sled or wheels or something and the dogs were meks instead with linked connections on your screen there would be a button to press on time so that lets say in dog sled racing its 11 but for this we can say 4-6 meks per team for example.

The lead mek pilot at the front would dictate the direction but the power would be among the other mek pilots who would have to time their button pressing as it appears on the screen to use the boost and even jump etc.

Wingsuit racing the high risk of being eliminated is there since you are not in a mek suit and the g-suit would have specialised wings plus to be less detected in the air. With reinforced suit your aim is to get to the ground at the target landing point after landing deploy your mek this would sound the alarm you then race off with the required supplies you are faced with tsi-hu hunters tracking you down shooting you, race fast and stay alive the survivors need the supplies and are counting on you!!

Pocket bike racing was done for fun as an entertainment but i could see this as a pet race where the pets would carry the owner done on a funny circuit and pop up obstacles could surprise you its not the fastest of races but its probably quite fun and cute at the same time :D

Direction finding racing these combined the use of navigational skills with the use of a compass, map and a communication device such as a radio. These were used to taught in schools as a way to combine science, technology, and physical education.

The map will indicate the location of the start with a symbol and the location of the finish.
Somewhere within the region on the map, will have placed five low power radio transmitters. The locations of the transmitters are kept a secret from the racers and are not marked on the map.

Each transmitter emits a signal in code by identifiable to the racers. The transmitters automatically transmit one after another in a repeating cycle, attempt to locate as many as three, four, or all five of the transmitters in the region, and then head to the finish line in fastest time they can.

G-suit Racing lets imagine an anti-gravity field we are floating here weightless and have magnetic boots to attract or repel off surfaces. The area have some tunnels and some floating objects so you can repel off using your sort of mega man style boots and when you start to go abit too far off activate the boot to either repel or attract e.g left mouse button is to attract and right mouse button is to repel

The purpose was to test the g-suit in anti-gravity conditions and it became a tradition for pilots to compete in the course

Just spewing ideas but i think racing could be done on many things here mek, vehicles, pets, the pilot them self even the use of a grappler to get from 1 point to another without touching the ground you could call it the Tarzan race hmm and if you swing and hit into enemies they could be knocked down because of the pendulum effect.

Thinking about stuff like this just reminds me of how a good number of games started off as something different like training people but over time turned into something people do for fun. Like how hide-and-seek is really a game designed to teach people how to hunt for targets (namely prey animals) and how to hide from targets (namely animals that could attack and kill humans). But all over the worlds people and kids play this game for fun never knowing that it is really teaching them skills that they can use for hunting or combat. Or like that 3 axis spinning ride that started off as way to train pilots so they are use to spinning around and different g-forces just turned into a ride you can find inside amusement parks and malls.

Also the fact that terms we use for things can have meaning that is lost the general public. Like how to most people the word marathon just means a really long race. Not knowing that word and race itself comes from the Battle of Marathon in 490 BC which was a battle between Persians and Greeks.

So having little things like that in the lore of game would add that touch of realism as you would might need to look into the history of the people and/or area to understand the real meaning of the game or event.

I believe Darkbyte had a thread way back when with this...

Imagine your pilot, with a mostly transparent force field (outfit show offs), in an enclosed arena within HOME (the Gatestriders Mothership over Em.8ER), one side a window overlooking the planet, the other side a window behind which are the seated spectators,...GO!
