Hello everyone!

There is one problem with new Omniframe design (at least for me). It's very bulky looking and big. On first art we had a person dressed in something like we had in Firefall. Small, mobile suit that can be used to different situations. However the Omniframe is big and bulky looking. Is it what we want? I prefer suits instead of mechs, but what about you?

Either is fine for me...but...I LOVE the idea that you can customize your reaper AND the MEK. Talk about versatility! I bet that design will actually carry over into future games...especially F2P as they have to monetize and being able to buy cosmetics for both is...well...BRILLIANT! In one players opinion...

oh... I see. Is THMPR also driveable or a drop-down machine like a thumper?
It's going to be an AI driven bot that you escort to a mining location, it mines for you and then when it gathers up enough stuff, heads back to a refining location. It will have turrets and stuff to fight back the main duty of defense is going to be a player characters that will have their own mech/exoskeleton, weapons and various vehicles to do that job.

Sorry Vedemin for leading the subject to different direction,
but now I wonder how important the omniframes are in Ember. If we are going to have different types of vehicles, doesn't that mean you don't have to use an omniframe maybe not needed at all? If you prefer other vehicles?

My guess is that the "aliens" we'll have to deal with are so much tougher than the reaper that you need the omniframe to compete (ie. not get squished like grape). Vehicles will probably get us to places faster and/or be more durable than the omniframe itself...but the omniframe will probably be more versatile than any vehicle in the game in regards to what it can do (ie. abilities and such).

No problem :)

Omniframes will be scaled-up Battleframe replacements, and since this is a large-scale War simulator, vehicles like tanks and a variety of aircraft would be implemented eventually as well. There're also plans to be able to build bases in the open world, which would facilitate the implementation of siege structures for raiding massive Alien compounds.

Instead of 20-man raids, you could have entire servers show up for Sieges. An alien compound with formidable walls stands against a wall of Omniframes and war machines. Within 30 minutes, Omniframes with welding attachments would have set up foundations for siege equipment, and a massive raid would begin. Equipment caches, etc, allowing frames to switch loadouts and for vehicles to be repaired or constructed quickly. I have this feeling of player-build FOBs sitting at key areas around massive Alien compounds, where Omniframes would respawn and head back in to combat.

Grummz said in the Discord channel that there would be vehicles, mostly combat ones (think tanks, armed jeeps, planes... stuff like that) but also noncombat ones.
Also he fiddled with the idea of an transforming bike. Think of a motorcycle/Omniframe-Hybrid. It would primarily be a bike but would accumulate energy to transform while driving. its transformed state would be timed. It will only be implemented if it fits the lore though. So dont get big hopes up.

Why the monkeylord? That thing was meh compared to something like the Fatboy.

For those who do not know it.. I present to you the Fatboy:

This beast of a machine features 12 battleship class gauss cannons mounted in 4 turrets, each with a reload time of 1 second. Allowing it to pummel any facility from beyond the range of any other ground force. But wait! There is more.

It comes complete with AA defense guns, Hells Fury riot guns, a bubble shield, its amphibious with torpedo tubes, has a pair of helipads for refueling and rearming VTOL aircraft, as well as a built in factory system allowing it to build any mobile weapon or construction system.

Its practically a mobile base, that builds even bigger bases around it.

That fatman only has pew pew AA guns, Monkeylord has AA missiles and is stealthy!
In fact, UEF is my favorate faction in SC but as a personal ride, I think catapillar is too old fashioned.

Monkeylord's AA missiles are not that much better. Fatboy is never without an escort, it makes them!

Besides, Stealth does not help much with Omnisensor towers everywhere (which are needed to get the most out of a Fatboy).

Damn, I love SC! Pity about SC2, was my most anticipated game EVA but was such a let down.

The Fatboy is pretty OP in the game, until the Monkeylord's laser touches it, then it's shield and armour dissolve in seconds...

Sounds and looks like an OGRE to me. Which is Steve Jackson's game version of a BOLO
