This idea is even better than my PROC Simulator

So let's take an example of Grummz' idea of Em8er's version of melding tornadoes. To recap, this event involves specialized rifts that allow you to travel to the Tsi-Hu's time loop, fight a Kaiju, and get certain mats before the rift closes.

Imagine if the event starts at Tier 0, and after it ends, you had a small window to restart it at Tier 1, all the way up to Tier 3, with increasing difficulty and rewards.

These specialized rifts will we have any way to keep it open for longer with special device?

If players where to get stuff from tier 2 as an example and die just before it ends would they still keep the rewards or lose some, even all?

Would the consequences of losing bring the Kaiju out of the loop into our plane of exsistance?

Rifts tend to need a lot of energy to keep open. Like the power of a star or blackhole just to keep even a small one open. But this a game and was handwave that somewhat with other things to power the opening. It could but the that moment the rift happens nature does everything it can to close it again, after all if it is what thing nature hates it is an imbalance of power. So let's say the opening after it is open and hits it max size it well than start to close up again and if you want to keep it open you have to keep powering it somehow. Like with a relic that holds a power source but you need to find a way to charge it up each use. And there can be different ways to charge it to fix different playing styles. For example, let's say you can have it build up a charge faster by letting to absorb some of the kinetic energy around you. This means you can let it absorb some of the extra heat you make and it'll lessen the effects of physical attacks (meaning you take less damage or you also do less damage as it absorbs the energy of movement). Or a relic that charges faster the longer you go without taking damage (really helpful for both stealth people and takes who know how to block). You get the point. Technology wise it would be like a battery that is below of level of Zero Point Energy battery but still has the power equal to like a star (Zero Point Energy batteries going their size could have the power equal to whole galaxies and greater in something as small enough for Human child to carry around).

If the rifts are meant to be something that is for teams to do. Having someone protect the opening might be a good idea. Not only for when you try and make your way back out not also from keeping the enemy from using to leave too. One person or group goes out and look for loot while the other protects the portal.

So if you are in the same team would you get the same reward as the team that went inside the rift even if your outside defending it?

What happens if you park the bus with vehicles and thumpr at the rift point, would the tsihu outside get annoyed and attempted to clear your defense?

Since we can go in the rift what about our pets do they get affected ?

What if there were naturally occurring rifts but also one where you had to craft a device then power it up to use? Basically like original Bane Claw and the Melding Anomaly Neutralizer (M.A.N.) event.

I was thinking something along those lines. Melding repulsion/terraforming that opens up access to more advanced portals. But also having a crafted engine to hold it open longer like Zdoo was talking about in the tornados.

Sounds good. I'd love for Em-8ER to play with the idea of random world events and make them less-MMO and more freeform. Say we take the Firefall Melding Tornado Encounter as an example. A tornado appears. Your objective is to destroy the big rocks floating around it, then destroy the core. Enter the portal, collect resources and escape before the melding bubble collapses. Let us break it down and expanding on it for team-based play, and make it less of an MMO random encounter with more win conditions, more lose conditions and more skill-based objectives:

Tier 1 -- Melding Tornado Spawns
No players start event - tornado despawns after a time, event end
1/3 Rocks destroyed - 0.25 reward modifier, event end
2/3 Rocks destroyed - 0.50 reward modifier, event end
3/3 Rocks destroyed - new objective "Core Vulnerable!"
Players do not destroy the core in time - 0.75 reward modifier, event end
Players destroy the core - 1.00 reward modifier, 1st tier reward issued, new binary objective "Enter the Portal" or "Defend the Amplifiers"
Tier 2 -- "Enter the Portal"
No players counted as attackers - tier 3 locked
Fight to the Conflux - triggered when a player enters the area
Disable the Warp Generator - +0.25 reward modifier
Eliminate the Warmaster - +0.25 reward modifier
Destabilize the Conflux +0.25 reward modifier
1 or 2 Objectives Completed - sum of reward modifier, 2nd tier reward issued, tier 3 locked
All Three Objectives Completed - 1.00 reward modifier, 2nd tier reward issued, tier 3 unlocked 1/2
All Three Objectives Completed in under X:XX:XX - bonus objective, extra 1.00 reward modifier, 2nd tier reward issued, tier 3 unlocked 1/2

Tier 2 -- "Defend the Amplifiers"
No players counted as defenders - tier 3 locked
Call Down Amplifiers to Keep Portal Open - if not called down, tier 3 locked
Defend Amplifiers from attacking Tsi-hu
Lose 2 Amplifiers 0.25 reward modifier, 2nd tier reward issued, event end (attackers forcibly ejected from Portal zone)
Lose 1 Amplifier 0.50 reward modifier, tier 3 locked
Lose No Amplifiers
At least 1 under 75% health 0.75 reward modifier, tier 3 locked
All over 75% health - 1.00 reward modifier, 2nd tier reward issued, tier 3 unlocked 1/2
All over 90% health - bonus objective, 1.00 reward modifier, extra 2nd tier reward issued, tier 3 unlocked 1/2
Tier 3 -- "Awakened"
If Enter the Portal and Defend the Amplifier objectives both met successfully, teleport all defenders into Portal, Kaiju boss zone
Boss Kaiju eliminates all players - 0.50 reward modifier, 2nd tier reward issued
Boss Kaiju is eliminated by players - 1.00 reward modifier, 3rd tier reward issued
Optional hard objective completed (could be a random objective, eg. timed) - extra reward based on objective
You could even hide objectives (or even interactable objects) that change some of the encounters. Hidden in the portal zone is a Tsi-hu chicken, and if you throw it into the Conflux, it changes the Kaiju boss into the giant chicken! Or a timed-secret where you call down 5 amplifiers instead, and activating them in a certain order summon Rakatsi-hu, the super-unique lightening Tsi-hu demigod.

I'd like an event where a kaiju cannot be killed and the only way to avoid it is to outrun, hide, slow it down with the enviroment, weapons, or being the distraction until the portal can be opened up to escape.

You can use the environment to slow it down, it will get smart eventually and could use its tail to wack and deflect it back.

Then it can summon smaller enemies that borrow out of the ground you can wack them like wack a mole otherwise they come out and become the eyes and navigators of the kaiju.

The Reapers have an upper hand since the Ancient Titan Kaiju is blind from the old wars.
This Kaiju can sense vibrations such as the high energy thrusters, objects falling and anything emitting high energy.

During this time you will have to locate pieces of artifacts and power cells to fuse into the damaged portal control. This will be hidden and the only thing stopping is the Kaiju, the fog and its pesky minions.

The kaiju will use a smoke screen type of artificial fog, making the area harder to see at times. The kaiju would chuckle in a way first then say "Unable to see? good ..... being the hunt ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAR"

There are hidden recordings too from lost reapers and some of them with their tragic stories finding all to earn an achievement.

Some folks would farm by attacking the minion's because they could drop parts for unique devices and outfits. The longer you do this the more intense it may get staying longer could mean better rewards.
However does that means...will be able to survive and even escape with all you have earned??

One of the recordings gives clues to where the parts are, and where one of the reaper is trapped .

If you locate the npc reaper robot and bring back to safety the bot will be a good friend providing you with secret missions when any turn up and offers on robotic gear such as Advanced manufacturing printer arm etc etc .

If you fail you are trapped for a short time and you see yourself waking up and Reaper team Alpha around and tell you. " your lucky that time, your going to need to study your opponent better.... glad your still in one piece Reaper!" They salute and walk off to the nearest command post.

That's a good idea, but those aren't so much tiers as they are stages.

You're right! I misread the point of your post. I had thought Tiers as in unlockable stages.

There is a world tier that increases as more of the map unlocked/terraformed and the Tsi-hu are pushed out. How would a repeatable/increasing difficulty event play into the world tier?

Does it still end at a predefined 'Tier 3' that is separate from the world tier? Does it scale up/down along with it, or is it completely separate?
Would one instance of this event be available at every world tier (eg. world tier is 7, so this event ranges from 7.0 to 7.3)?
Would killing the Kaiju at the end assist the overworld outside the event (outside of receiving contributable resources) or would it be more like a Destiny 2 "Memory" mission that takes place outside of time?
