The 'death' mechanic of having to leave your smoking, damaged frame and run around as a soft squishy target while you wait for your secondary frame to drop down is great. It reminds me of riding around in a smashed up APC in Ghost Recon, and then bailing and trying to run for another vehicle while you being pounded with gunfire...

Imagine doing this while you are high in the air on the back of a giant Kaiju.. and having your replacement suit land on its head!
