I usually play the opposite gender (Female avatars) and usually the smaller races so Gnomes, Dwarves, Asura, Elin in WoW, GW2, and Tera. In Everquest our raid guild had mandatory max shrinking on all guild raids so I just got used to being smaller than normal.

I think WoW/Mass Effect level customization for toons was adequete, nowhere near the level of many of the newer Korean/Chinese MMO that are everywhere nowadays but a good place to start I would think. Please no shiny skin ala Blade and Soul, all the girls look like plactic barbie dolls.

I never cared for durability loss due to use but I have never had a problem with durability loss from dying as it goes a long way to promoting intelligent/skillful game play ie, not zerging to die over and over.
