After the reveal, I have to admit that the system is a bit more restrictive than I initially thought. So, small frame will focus on mobility and dual wield melee, medium frame will dual wield secondary weapon, and large frame will focus on shield defense.

IMO, there is nothing 'wrong' with traditional vertical progression since it functions as gear requirement, a way to roughly measure player's capability, and giving direct boost in stat.
However, it has crippling flaws that we shouldn't overlook. Grindfest can turn even the best game boring...
