"Original intent", pointed out for all to see...

Update:
After All-Night Session, Texas House Approves GOP-Backed Voting Restrictions Bill

The bill would make it a felony to provide voters with an application to vote by mail if they hadn't requested one, or to use any public funds to facilitate the third-party distribution of mail-in voting applications.

The ability for polling place "watchers" to be present throughout the day of the election is also expanded under the bill. It sets a high bar for when such observers can be taken out of the polling place. The bill states they can be removed "only if the watcher engages in activity that would constitute an offense related to the conduct of the election."

Republicans promote pandemic relief they voted against

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., said it pained her to vote against the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan.

But in the weeks that followed, the first-term Republican issued a news release celebrating more than $3.7 million from the package that went to community health centers in her district as one of her “achievements.” She said she prided herself on “bringing federal funding to the district and back into the pockets of taxpayers.”

Malliotakis is far from alone.

Every Republican in Congress voted against the sweeping pandemic relief bill that President Joe Biden signed into law three months ago. But since the early spring votes, Republicans from New York and Indiana to Texas and Washington state have promoted elements of the legislation they fought to defeat.

Woman who called Michelle Obama an 'ape' sentenced to jail for defrauding FEMA of $18K

Pamela Taylor, the ex-West Virginia official who was fired for her remarks about the former first lady, was sentenced to 10 months in federal prison.

Taylor pleaded guilty in February to falsely registering for more than $18,000 in FEMA disaster benefits after flooding in Clay County, West Virginia, in June 2016. The floods killed 23 people.

Taylor claimed that her primary residence had been damaged in the flood and that she was staying in a rental property, the prosecutor's office said. However, she never moved and still lived in her undamaged home.

‘We Build The Wall’ co-founder indicted on tax charges

PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) — The co-founder of the “We Build The Wall” project aimed at raising money for a border wall was indicted Thursday on tax charges, adding to the fraud charges he already faces.

Court records show Kolfage in 2019 underreported his taxable income, prosecutors say. The indictment also accuses Kolfage of failing to report “hundreds of thousands of dollars” in contributions to “We Build The Wall” that were siphoned into his personal account.
