If you want to know how to calculate the theoretical quality of any two combined resources, the formula is:

((a * b) + (c * d)) / (b + d)

where
a is the quality of resource 1
b is the quantity of resource 1
c is the quality of resource 2, and
d is the quantity of resource 2.

so for instance if I have 7 each of Ronynium(412) and Ronynium(291), the formula would be

((291 * 7) + (412 * 7)) / (7 + 7) = 351.5

which rounds up to 352.

you could even have the quantity of combined resources deplete depending on the difference between the quality of each resource, so for instance

(b + d) - ((a - c) / 100)

EDIT: This would discourage people from scamming the system by farming low resources to higher ones one by one, since while you would get a higher quality by doing that, you would get a lower quantity. In plain english, this means that if you go through the refining process, you will have less of the minerals than what you started with, so there would be no point in combining 3 units of Ronynium(233) and one unit of Ronynium(989) because you would end up with nothing.
