Dumb female presentation

This isn't body shaming post. This is an over-sexualization post. What the heck is up with the female art and presentation for this game? I played Firefall for years in alpha before it became the garbage mmo wannabe it was before shutting down. Never did i care what the male or females looked like under the suit. The people in Firefall were in mechsuits. External heaps of badass metal. I get that this isn't Firefall. Its something new, hopefully better. But its a mmofps.....Not a turn the page story love game.

Looking at the art thrown in my face coming onto the website and you would think this was a typical eastern mmo with jiggly physics. Or a hentai puzzle game on steam.

Why?.......Why? From a glance I would immediately think 'game made by a boy for other boys'. Humans are beautiful things but geez...The art is atrocious and screams hentai. Tiny clothing over massive curves. Huge nipples through bikinis. Straight up Cringe.

Just go to the main page for website. See for yourself. Literally has cool art for mechs and the game. But then these female models fade in and out.....Dude one of the females legit has her hands between her legs. What a joke. Seems like a ploy to get some dudes hooked on first page and then maybe look at game later.

That's the art style of the artist...not the game. The art you see is for the outfits (i.E. cosmetics). The game will have a full on character creator, within limits due to fitting in the omni-frames. The website will have a rework done on it ahead of the Kick Starter as it's a known issue to get it more in line to market the game itself. Probably updated in a few months. Also, women outfits draw in new peeps whereas male outfits do not AND the outfits shown are from previous fund raisers or the Patron subscription. Do not worry as there will be a cosmetic shop in game for many more outfits not yet added. Hopefully this info is informative. :)

Uh yea...thats what my entire post is about.

Even worse that these could potentially be in game. Is this a hentai game?

The website will have a rework done on it ahead of the Kick Starter as it's a known issue to get it more in line to market the game itself. Probably updated in a few months.
This is on the website Now. Could care less if they change it. This shows what is in mind for females in the game.

Also, women outfits draw in new peeps whereas male outfits do not
Pulled from thin air.

What you've brought up has at least 3-4 threads already, if not more. Those previous threads would've educated you about this subject if you had looked for and read them. You didn't, hence this thread. I apologize for not pointing you to those and instead gave my own reply. When you have time I recommend that you search for, read, and attempt to understand the previous thread(s) regarding your observations rather than remaining ignorant. Good luck.

Crixa currently doesn't have the money to blow hundreds of thousands on a sweet trailer, and it doesn't have a solid art direction in-game at this time so screenshots would be self-defeating (just look at the original videos on the em8er YouTube). What they do have are subscribers that will pay for skins and those are what you see.

Further, if you don't like it, you can turn off "dumb" looking cosmetics in the options. There will of course be fully-clothed cosmetics too, just like in other hot games right now like Phantasy Star Online 2.

Being able to outfit your character how you like is one of the joys of current MMOs, and Em8er isn't alone in this.

I even made an alteration to one of the artworks, basically zipping up the jumpsuit of the female character (also giving her weapon and thumper a honeycomb pattern skin), because I found the showing of cleavage to be unnecessary and gratuitous.

https://forums.em8er.com/threads/up...3d-prints-in-production.762/page-4#post-21814

I'm fully aware that a lot of people are so simple that all they need (as a bait) is scantily clad women with ample proportions in more than one area of their bodies. And while I myself can be susceptible, to a much lesser extent, to that sort of thinking, I wouldn't use it as advertisement, even if it is a sad fact that it'll draw more interest.

@Grummz reassured me it was actually done only for a pin-up and the suit will be zipped-up in-game. But, of course, if there is support, funding and clear interest and if the modelers want to, they can create a separate open-zipper version for several outfits for that portion of the player-base.

Per Grummz on https://forums.em8er.com/threads/ho...ers-players-first-view-em8er.1734/#post-53427 :

"I think this is a post about the website more than an anti-waifu thread. We always said there would be waifus and husbandos in Em8ER. The website is going to completely change just prior to KS to focus much more on game features.

Meanwhile, since we've had the current site, it is not harming us, but the opposite. We went from 10k signups to doubling to over 20k signup in 1/3rd the time it took to reach the first 10k. Quite emphatically, the current site is not harming us, and can wait until we get to KS for the revamp, which will focus much more on gamplay.

People want dev updates, but putting together those videos takes away from the dev team. Having a guest artist create skins for Omniframes, Mounts, AIs and Female and male characters does not.

There is no miss-prioritization of resources here. Making skin concept art takes zero time away from development.

Development videos DO take time away. We would have to stop making stuff and spend 1-2 days making and editing a video on a dev update. This is why we do regular chief chats instead, such as the one at 5pm.

Hope that clears it up. I agree that the main website needs more game focus prior to KS and will be completely revamped by then."

Per Grummz on Discord (DevTracker 07/08/20):

Grummz: I like waifus. Expect waifu skins.
[4:21 PM]
Grummz: That does not mean there won’t be plenty of other options in game
[4:22 PM]
Grummz: I won’t apologize for waifus when I’ve been upfront with that for a long time.
[4:22 PM]
Grummz: I think we are being very innovative with the skin filter button.
[4:23 PM]
Grummz: The subscription is a premium. Waifu skins are premium and this rare drops. In game drops are going to be more Geesuit and sci fi oriented.
[4:24 PM]
Grummz: I thu kk people should wear what they want anywhere, you don’t have to see it.
[4:24 PM]
Grummz: You literally will never see a waifu skin if you don’t want to
[4:24 PM]
Grummz: Nit even body sliders past a certain amount
[4:25 PM]
Grummz: Pls don’t impose your will on others when you can press a button and be in theme all the time
[4:26 PM]
Grummz: All I see is waifu pushback. That’s why we have the filter.
[4:27 PM]
Grummz: Waifus are here to stay, they’ve been talked about for years. You can push a button to stay in lore.
[4:28 PM]
Grummz: Too many options are a bad thing
[4:28 PM]
Grummz: Streamline it
[4:28 PM]
Grummz: Focus dev efforts on other stuff
[4:29 PM]
Grummz: But ya, waifus are nit going away, nor is the ration going to change much in subs, even though the game will feature a lot of regular skins.
[4:30 PM]
Grummz: I’ve wanted to make a waifu game for decades. Couldn’t do it at Blizzard.
[4:31 PM]
Grummz: I’m going to pursue my dream as one of the last games I get to make before I retire.
[4:32 PM]
Grummz: We have solved this with the filter.
[4:32 PM]
Grummz: You are downplaying the solution which is absolute and works to never show you that stuff
[4:32 PM]
Grummz: No other solution is necessary
[4:32 PM]
Grummz: You can even filter it on a per skin basis with mute.
[4:32 PM]
Grummz: Yes of course there will
[4:33 PM]
Grummz: It subs are going to be premium and have waifu skins
[4:33 PM]
Grummz: Terib, that mean, I’m. It stabbing anyone. It’s a button.
[4:35 PM]
Grummz: I don’t understand. Our models do not look anime
[4:35 PM]
Grummz: And Japanese was in the logo from early on
[4:36 PM]
Grummz: No you can mute per skin.
[4:36 PM]
Grummz: But I’m nit doing zones for clothing
[4:36 PM]
Grummz: It’s a waste of dev effort
[4:37 PM]
Grummz: Nit treally. You’re talking less than 1 percent that want some based rules for appropriate wear.
[4:37 PM]
Grummz: Most either want lore only or waifus
[4:38 PM]
Grummz: But social wear VS gear wear is in games like BDO. Makes sense only if pilots end up getting stat gear and gameplay
[4:40 PM]
Grummz: We’ve done that.
[4:40 PM]
Grummz: See the police skin, nor the engi skin,
[4:40 PM]
Grummz: People said the first Geesuit we did with CSR was too sexy
[4:41 PM]
Grummz: It’s full body
[4:41 PM]
Grummz: No the first one
[4:41 PM]
Grummz: Yes, the subs skew to waifus.
[4:41 PM]
Grummz: They always will
[4:41 PM]
Grummz: But that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of options in game
[4:42 PM]
Grummz: This is not a zero sum game
[4:42 PM]
Grummz: Waifu skins does nit mean less military lore skins.
[4:42 PM]
Grummz: Abyss that’s a subjective line.
[4:44 PM]
Grummz: I’m sick of games folding to prudish pressure. This is my statement and my own preference. We are going to have lore filters and lots of non waifu options. Nobody is being left out, and the ratio you are worried about is pure fiction. There will be plenty of non waifu skins in game.
[4:45 PM]
Grummz: I do not cater to the anti bikini armor crowd. I understand it, and I’m providing a button you can push
[4:46 PM]
Grummz: It’s a button. S
[4:46 PM]
Grummz: Button
[4:46 PM]
Grummz: One click
[4:47 PM]
Grummz: Button!
[4:48 PM]
Grummz: I’m not a PC person. I do understand lore, that’s why we invented the filter option, something no other game has done.
[4:48 PM]
Grummz: If you are unhappy with the option, I feel you are trying to impose your personal view on other players.
[4:50 PM]
Grummz: Abyss your point isn’t. It’s nuanced. You want to see them in social setting only.
[4:51 PM]
Grummz: I hear you. I just don’t think enough people feel that way. Most either want to see them nor not.
[4:52 PM]
Grummz: Right now the focus of all our work has been on gameplay, not waifus. I hope that earns some confidence that we have our priorities right.
[4:53 PM]
Grummz: Abyss nit saying you were, I admitted your point was more nuanced.
[4:57 PM]
Grummz: The mech style is open. Expect a variety
[4:57 PM]
Grummz: A skin based game can’t be too strict in art theme.
[4:57 PM]
Grummz: Or all skins would look the same
[4:57 PM]
Grummz: I have no idea how to do a waifu mech
[4:59 PM]
Grummz: Waifus are a thing, they will be prevalent in subs, you have plenty of other options in game, and there is a button to never see any of them for those who prefer lore only skins.
[5:00 PM]
Grummz: Abys, at least you can hotkey it. I’ll look at flagging zones but it’s a manual process that I’d rather not do right now VS a button.
[5:01 PM]
Grummz: Also remember that ones definition of too much waifu is going to vary a lot person to person.
[5:01 PM]
Grummz: This is why individual skin muting is important too
[5:02 PM]
Grummz: I’ll do a strait up bikini armor frame after the next male skin.
[5:04 PM]
Grummz: Right now I just want to get the combat feeling right.
[5:04 PM]
Grummz: I’ll leave the bikini armor to CSR
[5:05 PM]
Grummz: CSR is our waifu concept artist
[5:05 PM]
Grummz: We have a ways to go before fighting tsihu feels good.
[5:05 PM]
Grummz: That’s my focus.
[5:06 PM]
Grummz: CSR focus is on great waifu skins
[5:06 PM]
Grummz: CSR can’t code or do game art so no resources are diverted
[5:09 PM]
Grummz: Lol ya, god mode for devs is next lol
[5:10 PM]
Grummz: Bikini armor is next.
[5:11 PM]

I think the art work should be put in a separate section in the main website to view all the skins
available. The focus of the game itself could be more on meks and kaiju's because that is what it is all about mainly.

If they had more mek skins and kaiju skins on the main website that would be cool too.

Humans are beautiful things
The tsi-hu disagree !

Also, women outfits draw in new peeps whereas male outfits do not
Fashion stereotype where outfits are made more for woman and less for men.
The range of outfits for female is much more, doesn't mean men do not want to just go with one or a few outfits.

If men's section had more would appeal or even unisex outfits that would be interesting too.
Not that many of us wear skirts unless you call a kilt a skirt but and that's fashion too :D

Because it attracts males and this game will need as much attention as it can get. Relax.
When i saw the medium mek skin i was wowed because this instantly reminded me of a transformer that is sexy without sex appeal.

Grummz: The mech style is open. Expect a variety

Hmm who would be focusing on husbando skins!

Just chiming in to say I really love Grummz’s stance on this.

“Waifu” art has existed for generations, even in Western culture dating back to the world wars - pinup girls, burlesque, etc.

There’s a line between classy and pervy, and while I think some of the stuff has approached that line (like the avatar for the Ember discord bot), I don’t think that Mark has ever crossed that line. I think having a toggle for people who are uncomfortable or feel disconnected from the immersion of the game as a result of this content is absolutely brilliant.

We need two mods for this game: klotz-o-matic, so everything looks like minecraft and is not sexy. And a day of the tentacle porn mod for dirty old men like me.

Gee, if I find something I really don´t like about a game... I simply play another.
YIKES!

And at the same i had a small guffaw over this.
