Indeed it did, it was actually quite a good system that balanced out gear but it was never truly tested in a solid PvP mode unfortunately. Or at least not that I can remember. Its definitely a mechanic that could work well.

I haven't played too recently. There were some great moments during beta though. I remember the very first beta tests where you could run around the smallest bit of Redwood Forest and it was rammed with players. And the mass slaughtering of bugs on Copa beach.
