What's the difference between MMG and a LMG?
HMG looks like the difference is the caliber of the bullet. Is that the same difference between the MMG and the LMG?
LMGs are often IARs (Infantry automatic rifles) or SAWs (Squad automatic weapons) which itself and the belts/mags can be carried by the gunner him-/herself and they normally use up to 7.62mm ammo, they also got normally bipods, MMGs are heavier and need several persons to carry, the Vickers was a MMG and needed had a crew of 3 soldiers. A HMG is often not carried by infantry but is mounted, normal calibres range from 7.62mm up to 12.6mm (cal .5(0)) and beyond, the HMG in the field up there probably got carried by the two soldiers, they can weigh around 60 kilos and always use a tripod. MMGs and HMGs also got often got quite ridiculous ranges, the M2 browning HMG got 2.5km max range and the Vickers MMG had a max range of 4km (indirect fire).
