For those who missed it, the T.H.M.P.R. orthographics are done and ready for 3D modeling:

It’s here! While concept art is great for setting mood, 3D modelers need blueprints, called orthographics, to begin the work of translating a 2D drawing into a 3D model.

With the additional funding we received from our (580% overfunded!!!) IndieGoGo campaign to put up Ember forums, we made orthographics of the T.H.M.P.R. MEK-A autonomous mining mech.

MEK stands for “Mechanically Enhanced Kinetics” and the “A” in “MEK-A” means this MEK is autonomous. Fully automated and delivered by drop-ship, the T.H.M.P.R. will land in tucked-up, ball-form onto your mining hot spot. It will then unfold and begin drilling into the ground with its immense arm-drill, picking up valuable resources with its claw arm.

Of course this attracts all sort of local xeno-morphs that you will have to defend against as T.H.M.P.R. does its work. It’s a game of risk/reward. The longer you mine, the rarer and more precious the resources are. But each wave of attacking xeno-morphs is tougher and tougher, and if your T.H.M.P.R. is destroyed, you lose it all.

Once full, the T.H.M.P.R. will beeline it straight back to your nearest player-built refinery to turn your hard-won ore into the pure elements you need to craft better gear, weapons and to build more facilities and defenses.

But the trip back is fraught with peril. More creatures will attack you as you escort the leaping, bounding T.H.M.P.R. back to base. The T.H.M.P.R. will fight alongside you, taking on and locking up with mini-Kaiju sized baddies. You’ll have to come to its aid to help it defeat these mini-bosses.

Mining is a risky business, and plenty of Reaper Teams have lost it all while pushing themselves harder and harder to reap those sweet, sweet resources.

I hope you enjoyed this little update and art drop. More is coming, including some surprises we haven’t talked about yet!

Thanks again for all your support!

Three things-
1: Why are we looking for ways to create a primary gear durability system? The current direction is aimed at that kind of thing on supplemental items/gear/objects/buildings. That solves the economic needs.
2: In a game with a horizontal progression system, wouldn't a way to make something more powerful go against it?
2: Power is a common motivation for players. If there is a way to gain it by accepting a certain mechanic...the many players who don't like that mechanic will feel as though they are being punished.

@Dubbelklik: So you are saying that all women in Ember are crazy iron pumpers? I really hope that is not what I am stuck with. I would prefer something a little more, normal? (Honestly do guys see that as very attractive?)
Personally I like quite a few different body types on a woman.
For what it's worth though, when the lore has people playing as soldiers and warriors I prefer that the body types fit what would come from a lifestyle of battle and rigorous combat training. That will of course take many forms but would generally showcase fitness.

But then who knows what kind of genetic divergences have happened to these people....
